Beach sports are an alternative fun way for children to get fit, develop coordination skills and make new friends in a safe and friendly environment. The sand offers an interesting surface for creative sport and play. The youngest age children can join in with the drop-in club sessions is 6years old. For younger tots we have a free kids sand area where you are welcome to bring buckets and spades to play with.

Older children will have the chance to progress through the juniors' sessions and there are opportunities for those who want it to train to a national level in both beach volleyball and beach soccer.

There is no need for any specialist equipment. Just turn up and take your shoes and socks off. We do ask that all children have sun protection on, a hat and water or a non fizzy soft drink. For younger kids (6-9yrs) we ask that parents wait around during the session. We have a lovely café/bar where you can enjoy excellent Red Roaster coffee, fair trade teas, cakes and light snacks. Freestyle Sessions
During half-term and summer holidays we will offer impromptu 'Freestyle' sessions whereby if there are enough children at the venue a member of staff will set up an informal 30-45minute beach sports session. Grommets (term for young surfer) Beach Club
This session focuses on fun play on sand. A session includes tag races, catching, ball skills and a mixture of rugby, soccer and volleyball skills.

Beach Volleyball / Beach Soccer / Beach Rugby
Each session includes a warm-up, fun drills specific to the sport followed by games.
All sessions are non- contact.

Half-term and summer hols
During holidays we run pre-book-able two hour beach sports sessions at various times in the week. Each session costs £10 and includes a soft drink.

Monday July 28th 3-5pm

Children love taster sessions and parties at Yellowave. Playing games, on sand, in the open air, is great fun and a good way for excited children to let off steam. We cater for groups of up to 16 children from aged 6 years to 15 years old. For younger children we recommend the Grommets Party, whilst older children may prefer the volleyball, tag rugby or soccer options.

Food and drink can be purchased at the Barefoot Café/Bar before, during or after the session and it also offers a great place for parents to hang out whilst the kids are on the sand doing their thing. Alternatively you can bring your own picnic for the party and go straight from our venue out onto the beach (please be aware that food not purchased at Yellowave cannot be consumed within the venue).

Types of party

Grommets - £37.50/hour – Up to 12 children – Duration 1 Hour

A Grommets party is generally aimed at 6-9 year olds with a number of different, fun, sport based activities and children's games involved, taking place on a single volleyball court.

Beach Volleyball - £37.50/hour – Up to 12 people – Duration 1 Hour

The volleyball party is a fun based introduction to beach volleyball. We introduce the basic shots of the game and play some tag games and teach various ball skills. We also include small sided games, serving games and a large match at the end. For those who have played more volleyball we can alternatively arrange a small tournament and/or referee games.

Beach (Tag) Rugby - £65.00/hour – Up to 16 people – Duration 1 Hour

The beach rugby party can be run in either of two ways. With the first option we will take the group and introduce them to the skills of rugby using various games and explain the differences of playing the game on the beach. We will also play various fun tag games and a match towards the end of the session. The second option is to spend the hour playing a match with our coach offering general tips and refereeing.

Beach soccer - £65.00/hour – Up to 16 people – Duration 1 Hour

The set up of the beach soccer party is run in a similar way to the rugby. You can choose for the coach to run through some fun drills, tag games, penalty competitions with a match at the end or refereeing a full beach soccer match for the entire hour.

To help everything to go smoothly on the day we ask parents/organisers to:

• Please arrive at least 5 minutes prior to your booking to allow us to start on time. We do have to finish the party at the correct time due to subsequent bookings.
• Food that is not purchased at the venue cannot be consumed within Yellowave. However you are able to go out onto the beach directly from the venue.
• If you would like to bring a cake to the venue please speak to staff prior to the party date.
• At all times the parent/organiser must take responsibility for dealing with inappropriate behaviour. We reserve the right to exclude any child who is proving disruptive to other party goers or other customers.
• Those not attending the party are welcome to sit around the court to watch or to use our café. But the café seating is reserved for those buying food and drink at the café.
