Climber reaching upwards

Bouldering

We have a 10m wide by 3.5m high traverse wall with sand landing. It’s a great little wall will lots of interesting boulder problems.

There’s a range of routes from big juggy holds - great for kids or warming up – to technical sitting starts.

There is no time limit on the wall and it’s the same cost for all, £2.50 / session which allows you to come and go all day. We also offer climbing shoe hire at £2.50. You can also buy chalk at reception. For safety reasons the climbing wall is for climbers 6 years and above. In spring we will be running a morning session on Fridays from 10-11am as part of our Sandy Tots session for for 3-5year olds only.

Bouldering is a form of climbing at a relatively low-level without ropes. It is often enjoyed in small groups with each climber taking it in turns to complete a problem.

A bouldering problem generally won't be higher than five metres and often traverses low to the ground.

The most famous bouldering area in the world is in the forests around Fountainbleau, Paris. It is particularly popular as much of the forest floor is made up of sand, making it ideal for jumping off the boulders. Bouldering is great training for climbing but is also a sport in itself.

The bouldering wall is 10m wide and up to 3.5m high with sand landing and costs £3.50. (Under 18 and want to climb without an adult? Call us to find out about registering)
